I have purchased a new violin!
In picking the instrument, I begun my search in Toronto, where I went to three music shops: The Sound Post, Heinl’s Violin Shop, and Remyni’s House of Music. All these music stores had very nice instruments, that I thoroughly enjoyed playing, although, I did not end up buying my instrument in Toronto.
My search took me across the border to Wrona’s House of Violins in Lewiston New York. This is the same shop I bought my previous violin. The owner and luthier, Michael Wrona, is not only very accommodating, but also has an excellent selection of violins.
After playing over 40 instruments, I chose a new violin that Mr. Wrona built himself in the last few months. Some of the instrument’s parts were recycled from an old German violin that Michael liked because of the quality of the wood. Michael took great care in adding the accessories to the instrument, such as quality Brazil-wood, tail piece, chin rest and pegs. I’m extremely happy with my choice and I love the rich sound of the instrument!
